Even the smallest animals have a right to life. Mouse baby “Matilda” was found blind, deaf and also severely dehydrated in a parking lot in the south of Salzburg. The really tragic thing: small children threw stones at the animal.
“It’s only a mouse” – “You can only kill him after all.” The savior of little “Matilda” had to deal with such statements. The little baby mouse lay in the blazing sun of a parking lot in Salzburg and was about to lose her life. The little one weighed only five grams, eyes and ears were still closed, suggesting that “Matilda” is less than two weeks old.
The mouse child was severely dehydrated from the heat radiation. Fortunately, an animal-loving passerby recognized the mouse’s distress and wanted to help. Unfortunately, she had to scare a few people away first – kids threw rocks at the poor animal because “it’s just a mouse after all.” Other passers-by smiled at the rescue attempt, saying, “Give the beast a cat as a snack or throw a rock at it.”
Animal love savior triumphed
Fortunately, the rescuer of “Matilda” stood firm, picked up the mouse and brought it to the Austrian Animal Welfare Association. There “Matilda” is now being fed and prepared for her release into the wild.
