For months, an 18-year-old from Haid allegedly robbed and blackmailed a young person. The victim was so intimidated that he did not dare to report the crime for a long time. Now the young blackmailer and robber has been convicted in Linz along with three accomplices.
The victim had to give up his tormentor, an expensive watch, his cell phone and money, sometimes his entire salary. There were reportedly beatings, verbal intimidation – “I’m going to burn down your apartment” – and threats with a knife and gun in support of his demands. Because he was so “successful”, the 18-year-old would have taken Airpods or the code for the debit card from two other young people.
arrest in court
With three alleged accomplices, aged 16 and 17, he sat before judge Ralf Sigl in Linz on Wednesday. His friends admitted to being involved in individual crimes but denied any involvement in the robbery and extortion. The main perpetrator, a citizen of the Russian Federation, was sentenced to 24 months, eight of which were unconditional. The co-defendants were given conditional terms of 15, 18 and 10 months respectively.
For one of the accomplices, the day of the trial ended in jail anyway: the police had been looking for him for similar offenses for two weeks – he was arrested while the trial was still going on.
