Tragic alpine accident on Sunday morning in the Tyrolean Zillertal: A 78-year-old Czech fell while mountain biking and suffered fatal injuries.
The tragic accident happened around 10:30 am under the so-called Granalm aan de Penken in Schwendau, as the police described on a “Krone” request. The 78-year-old Czech was there mountain biking with a companion when, for unknown reasons, he suddenly fell and was apparently seriously injured.
Attempts at CPR Failed
His companion immediately made a distress call. The mountain rescue, the Alpine police and an emergency helicopter rushed to the scene of the accident. Unfortunately, all the help for the man came too late. Attempts at resuscitation failed. He died at the scene of the accident, police said. The exact course of the accident is under investigation.
