Tragic accident in Timelkam (Upper Austria): A 70-year-old resident drove into the market tower at midnight on Thursday without braking. He died after being admitted to hospital.
The cause of the accident is unclear: the 70-year-old was driving his car in Timelkam on Linzer Straße around midnight. The driver of the car collided head-on with the market tower in the middle of the roadway.
Stuck in the car
The man who was trapped in the vehicle was rescued from the completely deformed vehicle by FF Timelkam and first aid was given by Red Cross ambulance personnel and emergency medical services. The 70-year-old was taken to the Salzkammergut clinic in Vöcklabruck with life-threatening injuries and died there shortly after arrival.
