A 58-year-old woman was killed by a shark while snorkeling in the Bahamas. The Pennsylvania woman was attacked Tuesday afternoon (local time) in the waters of Green Cay near the capital Nassau. The deceased had stopped on a cruise in the island state and taken a snorkeling trip with her family.
“The tour operators and her family tried to save the woman,” police said. Unsuccessfully – she suffered serious injuries on the left side of her body. When she was brought ashore, rescuers already determined her death.
The family of five was on a week-long cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas. The shipping company confirmed the death and offered “support and assistance” to the victim’s family. In 2019, a young American woman was fatally attacked by three sharks while diving in the same area.
