The accident happened around 8 a.m. on an alpine meadow in the municipality of Schwaz. As the Tyrol control center confirmed to a “Krone” request, according to initial information, a tractor and trailer loaded with cows fell 50 meters into a steep gully. Apparently parts of the forest path were broken off.
One dead, two seriously injured
At least three people were said to have been in the tractor. Apparently help for a prisoner came too late. He is said to have died at the scene of the accident. The other two people were said to have been seriously injured.
Fog makes large-scale operations difficult
The Tyrol control center has dispatched three emergency helicopters, mountain rescue, fire brigade and a crisis intervention team to the accident site. Apparently several cows also died. A large-scale operation is underway, hampered by fog. Further details are not yet known.
