A 44-year-old man, completely masked, was arrested in his car near a bank branch in Michelhausen (Lower Austria). According to the National Police, the man from Wiener Neustadt admitted that he wanted to commit a robbery. An investigation by the robbery group of the State Criminal Investigation Service has also shown that there is a European arrest warrant from Italy against the man for property and property crimes.
According to police, the 44-year-old parked a car at the bank branch before 7 a.m. Friday and removed both license plates along the way. He carried an airsoft rifle as a murder weapon. Until the branch opened, he waited disguised in the car with sunglasses, cap under which he wore a cloth and an FFP2 mask. He also wore work gloves.

A bank employee noticed the car and its occupants around 7:15 a.m. and made an emergency call to report them. Agents of the Atzenbrugg Police Inspectorate then found the suspect fully masked in the vehicle. A search of the car found both the murder weapon and number plates hidden in the trunk.
According to police, the 44-year-old had fully admitted that he wanted to commit the robbery due to financial difficulties. He was admitted to the prison of St. Pölten by order of the public prosecutor.
