During forestry work – hit by tree in the head: 64-year-old injured

Date:

The logging in a steep forest in Wies (Deutschlandsberg district) ended Friday for a 64-year-old in hospital: the man was hit on the head by a wedged tree trunk and seriously injured. Another forest worker provided first aid and alerted the emergency doctor.

A wedged log and rotten roots killed a 64-year-old from the Leibnitz district when chopping wood on steep terrain: The log broke and hit the man in the head and shoulder area before coming to a stop on his foot.

A second worker noticed the accident, freed the 64-year-old and notified emergency services. The injured person – he was wearing a forest helmet – received first aid from the A&E doctor and was taken to the LKH Wagna for further treatment.
