Well before the Easter holidays, most of the corona restrictions have been lifted or at least significantly reduced in many of Austria’s neighboring countries. The regulations are detailed below:
Germany
For access, persons aged 12 and older need a 3G ID, also for travel via the Deutsches Eck. At the beginning of April, most state corona requirements were abolished in large parts of the country and individual states are now responsible. A national mask obligation still applies in public transport, hospitals or healthcare institutions. Regardless of government rules, companies, shops and other institutions may also have stricter requirements.
Switzerland and Liechtenstein
There are no more access restrictions. The last national corona measures were also lifted internally on 1 April. However, different rules may apply in individual cantons.
Italy
The 3G rule and mandatory online registration apply when entering Italy. Since April 1, the 2G obligation has been lifted in hotels and proof of vaccination, recovery or testing is no longer required in local public transport or in shops. Access to museums, archaeological parks, exhibitions, archives, libraries and other cultural sites is neither subject to the 2G nor the 3G obligation. However, from April 1 to 30, the 2G obligation will continue to apply in cinemas, theaters and concerts. FFP2 masks are also required. In general, the mask requirement still applies indoors and outdoors when people gather. Further relaxation is expected from May 1. Then the mask requirement in indoor spaces could be abolished.
Slovenia
There are no longer any requirements to enter Slovenia. The corona measures were also largely lifted in the country itself. The 3G rule only applies to care institutions and retirement homes. However, face masks are still mandatory in public interiors and on public transport. A Covid certificate is not required for gastronomy, hotels or shopping centers or for visiting cultural institutions or events.
Croatia
Croatia is largely easing corona measures before Easter. Travelers from EU countries can enter without restrictions since Saturday, citizens of other countries still need a Covid certificate. The mask requirement has been almost completely eliminated. In public areas and means of transport, wearing a face mask is only a recommendation, you only have to wear it in care institutions and elderly and nursing homes.
Hungary
Hungary lifted all special Covid rules, including entry restrictions, on March 7. Access to restaurants, hotels, leisure facilities and cultural events is possible without restrictions. Face masks are no longer mandatory in public transport. Only in the health and social care sector does the decision whether or not to wear a mask again rest with the decision-making authority of the institution concerned.
Slovakia
No restrictions on entry. Also in the country, 3G proof is no longer required, although FFP2 masks remain mandatory on public transport, in public buildings and at mass events outdoors. Otherwise, it is no longer necessary to wear a mask outdoors since April 6.
Czech Republic
There are no restrictions on access. Also in the country most restrictions have been abolished and restaurants, hotels and shops can be visited without restrictions. Face masks are only mandatory in public transport and in care institutions and nursing homes. However, Health Minister Vlastimil Valek has also announced that the mask requirement in public transport will be abolished “from Easter” and that the decision on this should be made next week.
For entry from Austria, the respective entry rules must be understood. Different rules apply for entry from other countries or risk or variant areas.
