A criminal from Denmark who was wanted by an EU arrest warrant was caught by police in Tyrol: the man had already escaped from an institution the year before after being admitted by a court for serious crimes. The man was caught on a passenger train.
As early as September 22, a patrol was called to the Jenbach train station (Schwaz district) – “because of an unruly train passenger,” as the investigators say. The man then revealed his identity, which, as it turned out, was fictitious.
“Upon closer inspection, it became clear that the person is a 62-year-old Dane who was wanted by the Danish authorities on the basis of an EU arrest warrant,” the investigators continued. In May 2021, the man escaped from a mental institution where he had been admitted by a Danish court in 2016 for attempted murder and serious bodily harm.
Dane is extradited
The 62-year-old was taken to Innsbruck Prison. The Innsbruck Regional Court has given him custody and will now decide on his extradition to Denmark.
