A massive power outage in Bangladesh suddenly turned off the lights for about 140 million residents. As the AFP news agency reports, almost the entire South Asian country is affected.
According to reports, it may have been an unidentified power transmission failure at a power plant in the east of the country, which then set off a fatal chain reaction in the public power grid. The capital Dhaka and many other metropolises have been without power for hours.

Technicians are already troubleshooting and resolving the problem, a state energy agency representative said Tuesday evening (local time). It is not yet possible to estimate how long the work will take.
