The number of corona infections in the Netherlands is increasing sharply. The autumn wave has really started, said the responsible Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in The Hague on Tuesday.
More than 19,000 cases have been reported in the past seven days, 55 percent more than the week before and the highest number of infections since August.
In addition, the number of Covid 19 patients in hospitals is increasing significantly, it said. According to the RIVM, the focus of the new corona wave is on Amsterdam.
No protective measures for the time being
For now, however, the authorities will not take any protective measures. People are advised to self-test if they have symptoms, stay home if they have a positive result, and get revaccinated.
