Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the attacks

The Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe and now under Russian control, is again the target of attacks. The latest bombings have again led to a complete closure of the facilities. Ukrainian energy company Energoatom confirmed early this Saturday that “the last line of communication with the electrical system was cut at 00:59 (local time)” and that the nuclear power plant now only works with diesel generators.

Kiev estimates that it will only be able to function this way for ten days. “It is necessary to repair and restore the operation of the ZNPP’s lines of communication with the electrical system,” Energoatom said in a statement. Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the overnight attacks. Kiev blamed Moscow, while Russian Zaporizhia administrator Vladimir Rogov confirmed the plant’s decoupling “due to the bombing by Ukrainian troops”.

Considered one of the great strategic points of the war, practically since the beginning of the war, both sides have accused each other of carrying out bombing campaigns that constantly hamper the operation of the facility. It has happened several times that the installation was forced to shut down due to attacks. The last took place in early September.
