Terrible accident in Wartberg im Mürztal (Styria): On Tuesday afternoon, an 87-year-old pedestrian was hit by a rotary rake mounted on a tractor. The woman was so seriously injured that she died in hospital the next day.
At about 3:45 pm a farmer drove the District Bruck-Mürzzuschlag with his tractor and a rotary rake coupled to it in the Feldgasse in the direction of Mitterdorf im Mürztal. Near a building at 35 Feldgasse, he passed an 87-year-old woman who was walking along the side of the road.
Pedestrian was on the ground
Immediately afterwards, the tractor driver suddenly felt a jolt. He got out and noticed that the pedestrian from the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district was apparently injured on the ground. The 45-year-old immediately called the rescue service and provided first aid.
Woman succumbed to her injuries the next day
The rescue service brought the 87-year-old to the LKH Bruck an der Mur with arm and forehead injuries and a suspected hip injury. On Wednesday morning, the regional hospital announced that the 87-year-old had died. The public prosecutor of Leoben ordered an autopsy.
