The exotic snake that employees found at the waste transfer station in Nenzing (Vorarlberg) is not a reticulated python, as previously believed, but a boa constrictor. The search for the owner is still ongoing.
The story about an abandoned snake in Vorarlberg was actually adventurous enough, but now it’s going to turn into one thing: Until now, the exotic species was believed to be a reticulated python. After extensive research, it turned out on Thursday: it is not a python at all, but a boa constrictor.
Initial Diagnosis: “Python”
Employees of a waste transfer station discovered the animal on Wednesday when it moved over the site in a bed cover. An initial veterinary examination ended with a diagnosis of “Python”. The boa constrictor can change color, which has apparently made it difficult to identify the exact species. After further examination by the official veterinarian of the BH Bludenz it is now clear that it is a constrictor.
Up to 30 kilograms heavy
This type of snake is found in South America. The animals can weigh up to 30 kilograms, the specimen found weighs no less than 12 kilograms. In the meantime, it is still not clear who left the animal behind. Police are urgently requesting information from the public.
