More than two years after the bloody crime, three men are accused of murder in Sweden for allegedly shooting a 12-year-old girl from a car. The girl may have been accidentally involved in a shooting in the summer of 2020 when she was walking her dog.
Twelve-year-old Adriana went for a walk in the town of Botkyrka near Stockholm on an August evening in 2020 and met friends at a fast-food shop next to a gas station, as “Dagens Nyheter” reported. There were also two men in protective vests in the parking lot, who are said to have been the actual target of the attack. Then a white car pulled up and shots were fired from the vehicle – the girl fell victim to stray animals.
Bystanders are also victims of gang crime
One of the men in a protective vest tried to stop the twelve-year-old’s bleeding until rescuers arrived – but all help came too late for the girl. The case led to great disbelief in Sweden, also because the Scandinavian country has long struggled with rampant gang crime, with bystanders also ending up in the line of fire.
The full charges are against a total of six people and also include several other charges, including aggravated assault and weapons offences. It’s part of a larger multi-crime trial two years ago this summer.
