In Wiener Neustadt, investigations are currently underway against two police officers on suspicion of theft. The employees, aged 22 and 24, have been suspended. A disciplinary procedure has already been initiated.
Police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner confirmed the incident on Wednesday. One of the men allegedly took a pack of tobacco from a boy. The younger police officer has since resigned from the executive branch.
Both were drunk
The two boys were waiting for a taxi in the early hours of September 18 when the incident happened, the spokesman said. The victims informed the police, the colleagues were investigated. According to Schwaigerlehner, the 22- and 24-year-olds were under the influence of alcohol.

The further investigations were taken over by the National Criminal Investigation Department of Lower Austria (predatory area). According to the police spokesperson, a complaint has already been lodged with the public prosecutor in Wiener Neustadt. As for further measures against the 24-year-old, the outcome of the legal proceedings is awaited.
Another case in Vienna
Investigations are also underway against a 25-year-old police officer from the Mödling district. The man is suspected of verbally threatening an employee of a restaurant in Vienna-Alsergrund on September 20 with a knife. The suspect was detained as part of a manhunt and a knife was seized. An alcohol test showed a value of 2.58 per mille. The 25-year-old was reported and suspended, according to the directorate of the state police of Lower Austria. Disciplinary action was also taken in this case.
