A car had rolled over six times on Sunday after a traffic accident in St. Margarethen in Salzburg. The driver and his passenger (both 28) suffered serious injuries. Police say it is now clear that the driver lost control of the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
The accident happened in the afternoon on the B96 towards Tamsweg. When turning to the left, the driver shot across the road. According to the emergency services, the vehicle ended up in the dike and overturned six times. The car was badly damaged in the accident: parts of the vehicle were scattered within a radius of 100 meters, the rescue service reports. Both the driver and passenger were thrown from the vehicle and were seriously injured.
Drug test also positive
An alcohol test on the driver showed a blood alcohol level of 1.6 permille. A drug test also came back positive. The rescue took the two injured to hospitals in Tamsweg and Villach. The volunteer fire brigade recovered the accident vehicle and carried out clean-up work.
