A coach driver (58) and his 13-year-old passenger were injured in an accident in Pierbach (Upper Austria). Her horse had suddenly fled because it had apparently been startled by a cow that had moved alone in a meadow.
A 58-year-old from Schönau im Mühlkreis sat in a horse-drawn carriage on the Niederhofstetten freight route (municipality of Pierbach) shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday. When suddenly a cow moved in the meadow next to the road, the horse started to feel shy and the team pulled down the slope to the left.
Falling out of car
The driver and his 13-year-old passenger (also from Schönau/Mkr) fell from the carriage; the horse galloped on towards Schönau. The coachman was possibly slightly injured in the accident and was taken to the UKH Linz. The girl was seriously injured and had to be flown by a rescue helicopter to Kepler University Hospital in Linz.
