Two paragliders had an accident in Salzburg over the weekend – one of them came off very lightly. A flying pink unicorn also caused a stir.
A 36-year-old pilot from Salzburg had bad luck on Saturday. He was in the air with his paraglider around 3 p.m. when he crashed and became trapped in a tree about 20 meters away. He was not injured, but had to be extricated from his predicament by the Werfen mountain rescue service in a complex rescue operation.
Another paragliding accident was not so bad: Almost simultaneously, a 62-year-old man from Styria fell with his paraglider from a height of 20 meters shortly after take-off from Bischling and injured his back. After the first aid, the Styrian was flown by the rescue helicopter to the Schwarzach clinic.
Curious use in the Wengerau
In addition, the police officers in Wengerau had a very strange mission: around 5 p.m. German holidaymakers reported a possible crash of a paraglider. They had previously observed a flying object crashed into alpine terrain. However, the police officers were only able to find a large balloon in the shape of a pink unicorn at the scene – the Germans may have mistaken the unicorn for a paraglider.
Also on Sunday, a 25-year-old paraglider remained in a tree. She was also unharmed, but also had to be rescued from the tree by the mountain rescue team.
