A serious violent crime may have taken place early on Thursday morning in the center of Salzburg. The National Criminal Investigation Department is investigating.
According to eyewitnesses, the rescue service treated a seriously injured person near a restaurant on Imbergstraße in Salzburg. Initial information said the injuries were cuts or stab wounds to the trunk and limbs. In addition to the emergency doctor and ambulance, a large contingent of police immediately arrived on the scene. The crime scene team of the State Criminal Investigation Department of Salzburg has searched the spot for traces, presumably also for the murder weapon.
The police were unable or unwilling to provide any information about the case around 07:45 and only confirmed that there was an operation and that the National Criminal Investigation Department was investigating. A police spokeswoman said she had no further information about the cause. Whether a suspect has already been identified or even arrested remains open for now.
