Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin has not violated the duties of her office during summer celebrations.
That is the conclusion of the attorney general in charge of lawsuits against the government, the agencies reported.
There is no reason to believe that the Social Democratic head of government has failed to fulfill her duties or acted unlawfully, Chancellor Tuomas Pöysti wrote in an inquiry into complaints about the 36-year-old’s leisure activities.
Drug test because of video
Marin has not neglected a specific duty, nor has he jeopardized the discharge of such a duty. Marin made headlines in August with videos of a private party in which she danced and sings with friends.
One of the videos fueled rumors that drugs may have been involved. The prime minister rejected all allegations and underwent a drug test, which was negative.
Multiple complaints
The Independent Chancellor of Justice is investigating the legality of the activities of the government, president and authorities in Finland. Citizens can submit complaints to him if they suspect illegal activities.
After news of Marin’s celebrations, Pöysti had received several such complaints about Marin this summer. It was suspected that Marin was unable to work because of her alcohol consumption.
