The Ukrainian government wants to buy more naval drones after the attack on the Russian Black Sea fleet off Sevastopol. A fundraiser will start next week.
“(…) We want to raise money for a whole fleet of naval drones,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in his daily video address on Saturday evening. After the outbreak of the war, the internet platform United24 was founded, which, according to the Ukrainian government, has already raised about 220 million dollars (220.36 euros) for arms purchases. According to Zelensky, the country currently expects greater numbers of tanks, armored vehicles and artillery.
According to the Ukrainian account, three Russian warships were hit during the attack on the naval port near Sevastopol last weekend, including the new flagship “Admiral Makarov”. The Russian army, on the other hand, admitted only minor damage without providing precise information.
Small change
According to Zelenskyj, there has been heavy fighting on the fronts in recent hours, but they have brought little change. The southern Ukrainian city of Kherson is said to have come under artillery fire on Saturday. According to the Russian account, larger troop transfers and movements of Ukrainian armored units were recorded in some places.
In addition, fighting continued in the east for the cities of Bakhmut and Soledar. “Apparently Ukrainian troops are preparing another attack,” said the deputy head of the occupied region, Kirill Stremusov. “We keep the positions,” Zelenskyj said. In his video speech, he reiterated that he wanted to fight until Ukraine fully restored its original state borders.
