At a rally in Belgium, two young spectators were hit by one of the participating cars. According to the authorities, the car ran off the road near the town of Wanze on Sunday during the Condroz-Huy rally. The two fatalities are a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man.
According to prosecutors, several other people were injured in the accident. The rally organizer announced that one of the participating drivers and another person had been hospitalized. However, neither are in mortal danger.
The exact causes of the accident were initially clear. A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office told AFP news agency that the road was slippery due to the rain at the time of the accident, according to an expert. Alcohol tests on the driver of the accident car and the passenger were reported to be negative.

Investigators also examined whether the two murdered teens may have been in an area off-limits to spectators. The final stage of the rally was canceled after the accident.
