The Transport Defense Platform, the state-level group of self-employed and small transportation companies that called the strike last March, has begun another indefinite strike today. On this occasion, however, the union of autonomous transporters of Hego Euskal Herria Hi Y traditionalthe association of transporters of Navarre, did not support the protest.

Among other things, state carriers are mobilizing in protest against the non-compliance by shippers (customers of carriers) with the law that prohibits working at low costs and the free participation of drivers in loading and unloading tasks. This is the same organization that led a transport strike last March that lasted 20 days and caused serious problems in the supply chain.

Unlike that protest, which some other associations such as Fenadismer, Fetransa or Feintra have joined on this occasion, both the employers’ organizations and the sectoral organizations grouped in the National Road Transport Committee (CNTC) have not supported the strike.

During this first day of strike starting today, the carriers will take part in a demonstration in Madrid.
