The energy agency of the Basque government, the Ente Vasco de la Energía (EVE), held this Monday at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao its 40th birthday with an act presided over by the lehendakari, Inigo Urkulluand where the most notable energy projects of these four decades have been reviewed.
Wanting to emphasize the idea of direct participation of society in future energy projects, Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu has announced the activation of new models so that the implementation of new renewable energy facilities has a direct positive impact on citizens. He stated that EVE has been ensuring the thriving of energy projects for 40 years and has made progress in giving citizenship a leading role.
From EVE, they have pointed out that, at a time that is completely relevant to the energy crisis worldwide, the work carried out during these four decades has enabled us to have “a resilient energy system, diversified in energy sources and in its origins, and with a high degree of interconnection that strengthens the security of supply”.
For example, they have recalled that the Basque Country has the necessary infrastructure to meet the challenges of the future and have ensured that, as a priority objective, namely the energy transition, they will continue to work towards progress towards renewable and indigenous energy sources.
The Basque government created the Ente Vasco de la Energía (EVE) 40 years ago to lay the foundations for an energy policy based, with different weight depending on the period, on energy efficiency, the diversification of existing energy sources in Euskadi and the promotion of renewable energy.
Since then, the Basque Energy Entity has been the energy agency responsible for the development of projects and initiatives in accordance with the policies established by the Basque Executive.
More specifically, EVE’s mission is to propose the Euskadi energy strategies, under the criteria of security of supply, cost competitiveness, sustainability and technological development, and to actively participate in their development and contribute to the achievement of the defined objectives. .
