Seeds’ ability to swim slows down when Wi-Fi is nearby. This is according to an American study.
A pilot study from the University of Miami, Florida, investigated the link between electromagnetic radiation from a smartphone and semen. A mobile phone was placed 2.5 centimeters from sperm samples while a WhatsApp call lasted six hours.
Conclusion: Due to the WLAN connection, sperm motility and viability decreased. It didn’t matter if the connection was LTE or 5G. As soon as the smartphone was in a case or the distance to the WLAN was greater, the negative consequences diminished.
Exact effect unclear
However, it remains unclear whether the radiation has the same effect on sperm in the body. Because the sperm only moves after ejaculation. British scientist Allan Pacey reassured and clarified: “This study is an artificial experimental design and we have to be careful not to over interpret the results. What we lack is solid epidemiological data on mobile phone use and male fertility.”
The American researchers therefore want to conduct further research and see their current study results as a tentative hypothesis.
