On the morning of November 11, a previously unknown person quietly entered a bank branch on Neubaugasse in Vienna-Neubau. It soon became clear that he did not want to go to the bank to make a transfer.
The man, wearing a beige bucket hat, entered the staff area behind the counters at 9:40 a.m. and, without saying a word, motioned to a clerk to shut up and open her cash drawer. An object was hidden under his jacket – according to witnesses it could be a revolver.
Employee is shocked
Startled, the woman gave the ark to the robber. He emptied it and then fled. No one was injured, but the employee had to be taken to hospital because of her shock. A search was unsuccessful.
However, the alleged perpetrator could be filmed by surveillance cameras. Police have now released footage. The escape of the 40 to 50-year-old and 1.85 to 1.90 meter tall man probably led to Mariahilfer Strasse, Lindengasse and Zollgasse.
2000 euros for a crucial tip
The police call 01-31310-33800 for information (also anonymously) from the population about the identity of the robber with the bucket hat. Incidentally, the person who gives the decisive tip can look forward to a reward of 2000 euros, which was offered by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce.
