A new protest by activists from the group “Last Generation” has caused a stir in Milan. Four activists sprinkled eight kilograms of flour on a car decorated by Andy Warhol at an exhibition of works by the famous pop artist and then stuck their hands on it.
Unlike similar incidents around the world, the plant was not protected by protective glass. The investigation to identify those responsible and determine the damage to the car, which is worth about 10 million euros, is ongoing. The exhibition is temporarily closed to the public, Italian media report.
Oil and tomato soup on precious works of art
Climate activists are currently making headlines with pasting campaigns or attacks on works of art. Only Tuesday, the glass-protected famous painting “Death and Life” by Gustav Klimt in Vienna’s Leopold Museum was covered in oil. One of the activists also put his hand on the protective glass. Tomato soup was previously pitched to the famous work “Sunflowers” by Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh at the National Gallery in London. This work was also protected by a window.
