Passengers are fine – Jet collides with fire truck on takeoff: 2 killed

Two people were killed in a collision between an airplane and a fire engine on the runway of the airport in the Peruvian capital Lima. The machine of the Chilean airline LATAM caught fire after the collision, killing two firefighters in the van, Jorge Chávez International Airport reported Friday (local time).

The airline LATAM confirmed the accident. All occupants of the plane, which was to go to the southern Peruvian city of Juliaca, are doing well. The airport was initially closed. The causes of the accident would be investigated.

Videos showed the machine colliding with the transporter at high speed. Everything went very quickly, a passenger told TVPerú. A few seconds before the start, he heard a loud bang and saw flames.
