Five brutal raids – hunt for phantoms: A series of robberies shocks the city of Vienna

Date:

Security alarm at the Vienna police! Four masked phantoms are said to have hit the streets of Vienna five times in a short time. Concerns about an escalation of violence are on the rise. When hunting criminals, the investigators now rely on nightly “special patrols” …

The armed perpetrators of balaclavas made headlines last weekend (the “Krone” also reported). Within barely three hours, the street criminals would have gone on a rampage in three neighborhoods with firearms and steel bars or telescopic batons.

The brutal group began their raids around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday night, first in the crime hotspot Stadtpark on Landstrasse. Then, just half an hour later, around 2:15 am at Am Tabor in Leopoldstadt – and finally at 4:45 am at Simmeringer Hauptstrasse.

Always on public roads. And always in sight: young male night owls (between 23 and 35 years old) who have been out alone, or their wallets and mobile phones. The oldest victim was also knocked down and injured. The search resulted in spectacular scenes: WEGA’s alarm department stormed a Wiener Linien bus – without success.

Special police patrols against fear at night
But the grisly series of robberies doesn’t stop, the gang of four instead apparently becomes more and more dangerous and brutal. According to eyewitness accounts, two more robberies, ie five coups in the entire city area, can now be attributed to one and the same perpetrator – the fear grows as night falls.

In the search for the criminals, the police and the National Criminal Investigation Department now deploy nightly “special patrols”. Because if the four phantoms are not caught quickly, the violence in the street could escalate further.
