In addition to the current railway strike, which is causing huge traffic jams across Austria, climate activists of the “last generation” once again blocked the streets in Linz and Graz on Monday morning to campaign for an exit from the fossil fuel era. They drew attention to their actions on Twitter.
In Graz at 8 a.m., a handful of activists took to the streets of the Opernring to call attention to climate change – including a demand for a 100 km/h speed limit.
Annoyed drivers
Also in Linz, some climate activists did not stop and blocked a motorway exit to criticize the current climate policy. At the same time, further actions were also planned in Innsbruck. The irritated motorists still drove on sidewalks and bicycle paths to avoid the blockade. The police arrived on the spot after a few minutes to end the action.
Actions in museums caused a stir
The climate protection activists of the group “Last Generation” had recently caused enormous excitement with their actions.
In addition to sticking on various streets, they smeared oil paint on old works of art in museums and also stuck on the paintings. A few advertisements followed.
“What kind of life will my children have, how will they think of us? I see what happens in the hospital after three or four days of hot weather,” explains a nurse who also took part in the morning patch of the ‘Last Generation’.
