Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) announced on Thursday a relaxation of the corona requirement for masks and events. At the same time, the validity of the Green Passport for those who have been vaccinated three times has been extended to twelve months. “Anyone who has been vaccinated three times can go on holiday without any worries,” Rauch said at a press conference (video above).
The extension of validity had become necessary as tens of thousands of green passports were soon to expire as no fourth Covid vaccination is recommended for the time being. After the second sting you are now vaccinated for 180 days and that also applies to recovery.
At the end of March, the cabinet of the minister announced that 820 basic vaccinations would expire in Austria on 1 May, but that there was no solution for these people yet. But they are working “to find a solution in time,” the department assured at the time. Because “an increase in current basic vaccinations” will not start until mid-June, it was said at the time.
Third stitches were previously valid for nine months (270 days). By the end of March, 455,735 first vaccination series (two vaccinations or recovery and one vaccination) had expired and by May 1, there would have been about 600,000 new first vaccination series. By the end of June, basic vaccinations are said to have expired in about 77,000 people in Austria.

When it came to the green pass, Rauch advocated completing the full three-stitch immunization as soon as possible. In general, Rauch believes that a further refresher course in August or September is recommended, as another wave of corona is expected in the autumn. In any case, with the current extension to twelve months for the Green Passport, people are acting in unison in Europe.
