It was what is now called a toxic relationship. A 27-year-old and a 28-year-old have been a couple for seven years, five of them married. They have a seven-year-old child together, who lives with the grandparents. But the relationship was troubled and there were repeated threats of violence. The man has drug and alcohol problems. Recently he was in a rehab clinic in Salzburg. “He was here voluntarily and was inconspicuous,” the “Krone” was confirmed there.

Some of the athletes present intervened and hit the alleged perpetrator with barbells, but he did not let go of his victim at first. He eventually escaped and was apprehended by the police a short time later at the nearby Varena shopping centre.
