Plans by climate activists from the group Last Generation to disrupt a live broadcast Christmas service on German television (ARD) have been thwarted, according to police. Since there were indications of the planned Christmas Eve action at the Resurrection Church in Stuttgart-Möhringen, the service was recorded the day before, police said on Saturday.
On Christmas Eve, eight activists from the group appeared in front of the church in the afternoon to carry out their planned action. But they would not have found a live broadcast, but a closed church. The parish council called the police. When they arrived, officials found two would-be troublemakers, who were released after being turned away.
Actions in museums, ministries, airports and Co.
Since the beginning of 2022, the last generation has been blocking motorway exits and intersections in Berlin and other major cities to fight for more climate protection. There were also campaigns in museums, stadiums, ministries, airports and oil pipelines.
