The killing spree by a 41-year-old Iraqi ended with gunfire in front of the Hotel Kremstalerhof in Leonding on Monday afternoon. Selina F., 19, was at the front desk at the time. The “Krone” describes the dramatic minutes before the arrest.
“crown”: How did you experience the shooting and arrest? It all happened right in front of your eyes, didn’t it?
Selina F.: My colleague and I were standing behind the reception desk when suddenly a black VW slammed in front of the hotel door. My colleague went to the window and checked. The car was right in front of the entrance. She wanted to know if anyone was hurt. You want to help, but these days you better be careful.
I can only agree with you there. What happened next?
Everything happened so fast. Suddenly, the gentleman (the shooter, editor’s note) got out of the car and stood there with a gun in his hand. We heard three shots, ducked and ran to the back of the back office where we hid. We didn’t know if he would come to us.
Good night. Those were crime thriller scenes!
Yes, luckily the police were there very quickly and brought the perpetrator to the ground. Five of the policemen then took him to the hole at the entrance and cornered him facing the wall and held him down. He complained that they hurt him, but that was not true.
How did you feel after the arrest?
When the police arrived, we knew we were safe.
