One person died in a room fire in Vienna on Friday. The fire was noticed in the morning and the emergency services were notified. All help came too late for the victim.
The emergency services were notified around 10 a.m. and left for Kochgasse with six vehicles and 30 helpers. The flames were extinguished under respiratory protection with two extinguishing lines, reports fire spokesman Jürgen Figerl.
Victim discovered during firefighting operations
The stairwell was kept smoke-free with powerful fans and the adjoining apartments were monitored. In the apartment, during the extinguishing work, the firefighters found the lifeless owner of the apartment, took him out and handed him over to the Viennese professional rescue service. Unfortunately, their attempts to resuscitate the victim were unsuccessful.
