The man stood very close to the edge and, having loosened a piece of earth, he collapsed into the void, according to the newspaper ‘Clarín’.
A Naval Prefecture swimmer and a Coast Guard intervened in his rescue. Subsequently, Special Risks agents from the Buenos Aires Police Department and an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME) went to the scene to assist him.
The man was taken to the Hospital Interzonal de Agudos de Mar del Plata, although his death was eventually determined at 9:48 p.m. (local time) due to multiple injuries, including trauma to the skull and several fractures.
