A fatal ski accident took place on the Mölltaler Gletscher on Sunday. A 55-year-old man fell and was fatally injured.
A man from the Czech Republic was traveling with two friends in the ski area “Mölltaler Gletscher”. The 55-year-old fell on runway 1 at an altitude of 2,900 meters and remained motionless. The rescue chain was immediately set in motion. The piste service of the Gletscherbahnen arrived at the scene of the accident about ten minutes later. CPR was immediately started, but to no avail. The emergency doctor was only able to determine the death of the holidaymaker.
Cause of death unclear
It is still unclear how the fatal accident happened. “According to the police investigation, it turned out that immediately after the fall of the deceased, one of his friends, a 56-year-old Czech, had also fallen in the same place,” the detectives announce. “It cannot be ruled out that the two skiers collided with each other. In the end, the two ended up only a few meters apart on the slope. The 56-year-old was briefly unconscious, but was unharmed.
ordered autopsy
“Since third-party negligence cannot be ruled out, the Klagenfurt prosecutor’s office has ordered the autopsy of the body, which will take place on Monday.” Further research is underway.
