A couple and their three daughters live in only 50 square meters. Because mold spreads, they can only use one room.
Five of the B. family live in a community apartment of 50 square meters. The couple and their three daughters between the ages of five months and four years share only two rooms. Rest is not considered.
In addition to all this, there is now also the fact that mold is spreading in the mini-apartment. “When I discovered the mold in our bedroom, I immediately contacted the Wiener Wohnen hotline. I explained the situation,” explains Markus B. Five of them could only occupy one of the two rooms because of the mold. called back a few days later.
More than two months waiting time
But the answer was disappointing: it was not until March 28 that someone could come by to assess the damage. “The employee said that they were currently receiving thousands of calls about mold, so an earlier appointment was not possible,” says B angrily. Her tip: get mold, spray the wall, repeat the process after 24 hours – and the spores are dead and removable with a cloth.
The particularly long waiting time and the current numerous mold problems in social housing are also confirmed by Wiener Wohnen in response to a question from “Krone”.
Larger apartment also a problem
Due to the special situation, the family received a housing voucher for an exchange for a larger apartment. According to the father of the family, only refusals have been received so far.
“It is a pity when families have to live in moldy apartments that are much too small. But if rents are subsequently increased several times a year, action is called for,” FPÖ leader Dominik Nepp criticized.
