About 45 minutes after the start of the service, three shots rang out through the inspection rooms. Apparently in front of two colleagues, the younger man fired a shot after a conversation between a 46-year-old and his older superior – he had used his own service weapon. The victim then collapsed.
Attempts at resuscitation failed
The rescue chain was immediately set in motion, the emergency services were quickly on the scene, but resuscitation attempts were to no avail. The post commander died on the spot.
The shooter was arrested without resistance. The two other colleagues who had to watch the incident were unharmed and were treated.
Targeted shots or accidents?
What prompted the 46-year-old to fire the shots is under investigation – for now, the executive has not provided information on whether the shots were targeted or whether it was a tragic accident. “We are now trying to find out what his statements are about this case,” police spokesman Heimo Kohlbacher told “Krone”.
