The Tyrolean police are still puzzled: the search for the unknown passenger who fled from a car check on Friday has so far yielded nothing. The Swiss driver of the car in which the fugitive was sitting does not want to know him.
As reported Friday afternoon, police stopped a suspicious car on the Brenner Autobahn near the main Schönberg toll house, which was heading north. A 29-year-old Swiss man was behind the wheel. In the passenger seat next to him was another man whose identity remains a great mystery. His documents gave no information, as they were clearly forged.
The driver suddenly sped away
“To carry out an intensive check, the driver must drive to the parking lot of Asfinag and park the car there,” the police said. But that didn’t happen because the Swiss ignored the request and suddenly drove away. A police patrol was able to stop the car a little later in the Patsch area.
When the officers wanted to check the occupants, the unknown passenger fled on foot. An immediate search for him was unsuccessful. The man is still on the run, according to police.
29-year-old driver arrested
The management arrested the 29-year-old driver. According to the police, however, he was unwilling or unable to provide information about the identity of his passenger during the interrogation. He is now free again.
Further investigation should shed light on the darkness of the mysterious affair.
