The public prosecutor of Brussels is investigating a bomb threat in the city subway. Tuesday evening, the European Commission He informed police that he had received an email written in Russian stating that an attack would be carried out this Wednesday in the capital of the community if the receiving agency did not change its policy.
“The recent threatening emails have been duly assessed, both the Commission and the Belgian security services have decided to maintain the current alert level,” an EC spokesperson said this afternoon. He also explained that the Belgian authorities have launched an investigation as a precaution.
After learning of these threat reports, the US Embassy in Brussels has launched an alert stating that Belgian police have increased security in response to a possible subway attack.
“Stay aware of your surroundings and be careful when traveling in and around Brussels,” the US embassy emphasizes in its message, advising you to take some measures, such as avoiding crowds or keeping an eye on the local media for the latest updates.
