Armed men raided a cafe in the Albanian capital Tirana on Sunday evening. A waitress was murdered and her granddaughter had to witness the crime.
Five men and the ten-year-old relatives of the dead were injured in the brutal attack. According to the police, the attack would be aimed at the owner of the café, who would have ties to organized crime. However, he was not in the restaurant.
Organized crime and drug trafficking is a major problem in Albania, and combating it is complicated by the fact that criminals have bribed numerous politicians, judges, prosecutors and police officers to induce their addiction.
