Suspended sentence – Romanian police threatened with atomic bomb: sentenced!

Date:

“I have an atomic bomb. Let me in!” With these words, a 40-year-old Romanian applied for admission to the Salzburg State Police headquarters on February 11. The police officers on the other side of the intercom system took the threat seriously and launched a large-scale operation that also involved special forces. the defendant: he only wanted to draw attention to a “Schartner bomb” in his backpack.

“When you read this, you imagine yourself in the program of an Austrian cabaret artist,” said the man’s lawyer during the hearing before the Salzburg court on Tuesday morning. His client, who previously had no criminal record, suffered unsustainable sanitary and sanitary conditions at the police detention center where he was serving administrative sentences. That’s why he got scabies. The Romanian was therefore released for three days and wanted to return to the police on February 11, a Saturday. “He is deeply sorry for what happened and the consequences it has had,” the lawyer concluded in his opening statement.

“I just wanted to serve my fine”
The suspect himself said: “I just wanted to serve my outstanding fines in the detention center and nothing more.” He did not threaten the officers, but only wanted to reveal the contents of his backpack: “No one was at the lock to check. So I listed what I have in my pockets. I had a “Schartner bomb” – ie a drink – in my backpack,” says the graduate psychologist and sociologist, who is currently unemployed in Austria.

The defendant claims to have said “Schartner bomb”.
But the police officers on the other side of the intercom system unanimously heard “atomic bomb,” the judge assigned the man. Some English notes found on his mobile phone did not exactly play into the hands of the suspect. He asks himself something like, “What’s the worst thing I can do to the Salzburg police that also benefits me the most?” Or, “What can I do to cause high levels of insecurity, panic and police threats?”

Nine months probation
The presiding judge disbelieved the accused’s allegations and imposed nine months’ probation for severe coercion. The verdict is not final!
