After the Directorate of State Security and Intelligence (DSN) received information on Wednesday that an attack was planned in Vienna, the current risk assessment of the situation now allows the measures to be relaxed.
After increased monitoring and surveillance of potentially threatened locations or objects from the executive was implemented on Wednesday, the DSN is now allowing these measures to be reduced. “These precautions were constantly evaluated and adapted to the situation,” says the directorate of the Vienna State Police.
Warning of approaching attacks
A warning had been in effect for Vienna since Wednesday morning due to possible imminent terrorist attacks against religious institutions, so the police increased their security measures. According to research by “Krone”, information has also been received about a planned attack by a Syrian terror cell.
The threat is apparently aimed at compatriots who fled to Austria to escape the war and dictator Bashar al-Assad. According to these, they would be killed while attending a trade fair because they did not go to war as holy warriors for jihad.
