Where is Adriana Jordan E.? In Scharnstein or Laakirchen (Upper Austria), hundreds of police, fire brigade and sniffer dogs are looking for a 22-year-old American woman who has disappeared from a religious center. And it’s not the first time the young woman has been searched for!
Adriana left her accommodation in the center of Scharnstein around 7 a.m. on Friday to go for a walk. The next day, on Saturday, she should have attended another meeting at the Buddhist center “Rangjung Yeshe Gomde”. But she didn’t come. The American was immediately reported missing, an initial search turned up nothing.
No sign of her on Sunday either. Seven fire brigades went in search, together with sniffer dogs and of course the police. Four drones and a helicopter are also in action! In the village of Diethamin in Laakirchen, detectives found the mobile phone that Adriana had borrowed. She is said to have been seen there as well – but this report has now been revised. The phone turned on once, then off and on again. Therefore, the investigators assume that the young American was not involved in an accident or a crime. Now that the area is being combed again, it is hoped to find the missing person or the mobile phone before nightfall. The search was called off at around 6 p.m.

The missing person has made headlines before, but not in Austria, but in America, where she also disappeared in 2015. The then 14-year-old had been reported missing in the state of Georgia. She was later found about 200 miles away in the state of Tennessee. The girl, who was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome at the time, is said to have said she “wanted to go over the mountains”.
