A 21-year-old suspect has been arrested after the explosion at a house in the German city of Eschweiler that injured 16 people. The public prosecutor’s office in Aachen announced this on Saturday.
An arrest warrant has been issued against the suspect, among other things, because of the strong suspicion of attempted murder. The background and possible motives are being investigated. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect is German.

According to the researchers, a large number of buildings were severely damaged by the blast wave on Thursday evening.
16 people were injured. Four of them had to be taken to hospital, two suffered life-threatening injuries. With regard to the privacy of those affected, the public prosecutor’s office does not provide any further information.
