Before indictment – Trump was arrested in New York court

Date:

Historic day in US history: Donald Trump became the first former US president to be taken into custody in a criminal case. The 76-year-old had previously voluntarily appeared at the Manhattan courthouse to read the allegations in the affair about a hush money payment for porn actress Stormy Daniels. At the request of the defense, the meeting was held behind closed doors

Trump had to take fingerprints while in custody. It was unclear if any police photos – “Mugshots” – were taken of him. It was expected that he would be released afterwards. It is also unclear what exactly Trump is accused of. The media reported that 30 charges had to be read.

Fans and opponents demonstrated
He is the first former president in US history to face criminal charges. From Trump Tower in Manhattan, where he had spent the night, the former president had made his way to the courthouse in south-central New York in a heavily guarded convoy. Numerous supporters and opponents had gathered there for hours. The building was secured with a large contingent of police officers.

The Secret Service continues to track Trump
As a former president, Trump is still protected by the Secret Service. Security officials inspected the Manhattan courthouse on Friday to plan Trump’s route in and out of the house. Dozens of employees secured Trump’s route from his Mar-a-Lago residence through New York’s Trump Tower to the courtroom.
