A serious accident occurred in St. Johann in Tirol on Friday afternoon. A cyclist was seriously injured. The woman (75) was hit and run over by a heavy vehicle.
The terrible accident happened around 2 p.m. in the municipality of St. Johann. According to initial findings, the 75-year-old wanted to push her bicycle past a truck. The driver of the heavy vehicle had apparently overlooked this and drove on.
The local cyclist was hit by a front tire of the heavy vehicle and rolled over in the leg area. The emergency services, the fire brigade and the police pulled out.
The seriously injured were taken to hospital by helicopter. The severely shaken truck driver had to be cared for by a crisis intervention team. Further investigations are underway into the cause of the accident.
